SES is envisioned to evolve as a community of professionals and scholars endeavouring to understand education in its historical and contemporary contexts through engaged scholarship and practice. The School aims to bridge the gap between the theory and practice of education in its multiple locations-in that, it attempts to foster greater convergence between the study of education as a social phenomenon and the preparation of professional educators. While engaging with teacher education, pedagogy, curriculum, policy planning and administration, the School works toward development of a rigorous praxis-based theoretical perspective. In pursuit of this vision, SES launched the MA Education programme in 2012, MA Education (Early Childhood Care and Education) in 2014, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses and a PhD programme in 2019. AUD is now launching four years Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), also called BABEd programmes aim to bring together multidisciplinary undergraduate education and professional preparation of schoolteachers. The programmes envision to provide excellent quality pre-service teacher education that addresses the longstanding issue of insufficient focus on disciplinary knowledge and lack of its integration with professional knowledge in teacher preparation in India.
